Privacy Policy

We built Sologram on a single promise — your private life stays private. This policy explains exactly what data we collect (spoiler: almost nothing), how we protect you, and what your rights are.

Our Core Privacy Promise
Sologram does not collect, upload, store, or sell your personal data, photos, videos, or posts to any server, third party, or cloud service. Everything you post stays on your device only. We do not know who you are. We cannot access your content. This is not a policy loophole — it is the architecture of the app.
1

App Permissions We Request

To provide core features of Sologram, the app requests the following device permissions on Android and iOS. All permissions are requested only when you use the relevant feature — we never request permissions in the background.

Permission Platform Why We Need It When Asked
Camera Android & iOS To let you capture photos and videos directly in-app and post them to your private feed or share in a Circle Chat Only when you tap the camera icon to take a new photo or video
Photo Library / Gallery Android & iOS To let you select existing photos and videos from your device gallery and upload them to your private posts or Circle Chat messages Only when you tap "Upload from Gallery" in the post creation screen
Microphone Android & iOS Required by some devices when recording video with audio through the in-app camera Only during video recording — never used for audio recording alone
Notifications Android & iOS To deliver "On This Day" memory alerts, posting streak reminders, and Circle Chat message notifications from group members On first launch — you can deny this and all features still work
Internet Access Android & iOS Required to sync Circle posts and Circle Chat messages with other group members via Firebase Always — needed for Circle features only; private posts work fully offline
Camera & Gallery — what we do NOT do: Photos and videos captured or selected are stored only on your device (for private posts) or sent directly to your Circle group via Firebase (if you choose to share). We never scan, analyse, upload, or store any image or video on our own servers. We have no access to your camera roll or gallery beyond the specific files you choose to select.
Permission revocation: You can revoke any permission at any time through your device Settings → Apps → Sologram → Permissions. Revoking camera or gallery permission means you will not be able to upload new photos or videos, but all existing posts remain accessible.
iOS Note: On iOS, we request "Photo Library — Selected Photos Only" access where possible, meaning you choose exactly which photos Sologram can see rather than granting access to your entire library.
4
How the Circle Feature Works

The Circle feature allows you to optionally share selected posts with a private group of trusted people (family, partner, close friends). When you share a post to a Circle:

The shared post is stored on Firebase (Google's secure cloud platform) in an encrypted format. It is accessible only to users who possess the unique invite code for that specific Circle. No one else — including Sologram — can browse or discover Circle content.
Invite codes (e.g., SG-FM-72910) are generated randomly. They are not tied to your identity, phone number, or any personal profile. The code is the only key to the Circle.
Posts that are not shared to a Circle remain exclusively on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.
5
Third-Party Services

Sologram uses a minimal set of trusted third-party services. Each is listed below with details of what data, if any, they receive:

ServiceProviderPurposeData Shared
Firebase Google LLC Circle post storage only Encrypted Circle posts (only when you choose to share)
AdMob Google LLC Show ads for stat unlocks & streak freezes Standard ad identifiers per Google's privacy policy
Google Play Store Google LLC App distribution (Android) Governed by Google Play's own privacy terms

Sologram does not use Facebook SDK, analytics platforms (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment), crash reporters, or any advertising networks beyond AdMob. We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third party for marketing purposes.

6
Advertising (AdMob)

Sologram is free to use. To support development, we show short ads in two specific situations:

Stat Unlock: When you want to set likes/views beyond the free limit (10K likes, 50K views), a short rewarded ad plays. After watching, unlimited stats are unlocked for that post.
Streak Freeze: When you want to protect your posting streak by earning a freeze, a short rewarded ad plays.

These ads are served by Google AdMob. Google may use standard advertising identifiers on your device (e.g., Android Advertising ID) to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time through your Android device settings under Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization. Sologram does not receive or store any personal data from AdMob.

7
Data Retention & Deletion

Device-stored data: All posts, stats, mood tags, streaks, and profile data stored locally can be deleted at any time by clearing the app's storage in your Android device settings, or by uninstalling the app. This data is not recoverable once deleted, as it exists only on your device.

Circle data: Posts shared to a Circle are stored on Firebase. To request deletion of Circle data, email support@sologram.in with the subject "Circle Data Deletion Request." We will process your request within 30 days.

We do not retain backups of your personal posts, photos, or profile on any server.

8
Children's Privacy

Sologram is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the Circle feature, please contact us at support@sologram.in and we will promptly delete that data.

9
Security

We take security seriously. Here is how your data is protected:

Device-only storage: The best way to protect data from breaches is to never transmit it. Posts and photos never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share them to a Circle.
Invite codes as access keys: Circle access relies entirely on randomly generated codes. There is no user discovery, no username search, and no way to access a circle without the physical code.
Firebase security rules: Circle data stored in Firebase is protected by strict security rules that allow read access only to authenticated code holders of that specific group.
10
Your Rights

Under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (India) and applicable data protection norms, you have the following rights:

Right to Access: You can request what data (if any) we hold about you related to Circle usage.
Right to Deletion: You can request deletion of any Circle-related data by emailing support@sologram.in.
Right to Withdraw: You can stop using the app and clear all local data at any time from your device settings.
Right to Opt-Out of Ads: You can opt out of personalized advertising through your Android device settings at any time.
11
Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notification. Continued use of Sologram after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

We will never change this policy in a way that reduces your privacy protections without explicit notice and consent.

12
Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its amendments. Any disputes arising in connection with this policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
